Serie B club Sassuolo have claimed that Manchester United are among several clubs chasing their 18-year-old striker Domenico Berardi.
The teenager, who has scored once in his side's opening two games of the season, is highly rated in Italy and across Europe.
His current contract runs until 2015, but Sassuolo general director Nereo Bonato has hinted that Berardi could leave for bigger and better things, should the right offer come in.
He told Sky Sports News: "The interest from Manchester United? The player is followed with great attention by many clubs, including the Red Devils and also Juventus.
"But there are other Italian and foreign sides who have observed him in recent games. He has a contract with us until 2015 and if some big club should come forward we will see what is best for everyone.
"We are open to all options. We'll see how things are going and how the situation develops. Domenico deserves attention; he has great qualities and he's showing it."
Sir Alex Ferguson recently recruited young Chilean striker Angelo Henriquez as future competition for his first-team strike force.
