Manchester United have reportedly rejected offers from Newcastle United and Inter Milan for midfielder Michael Carrick.
The 33-year-old signed a contract extension with the Red Devils in March to commit his future to Louis van Gaal's men.
However, Carrick faces increased competition for his place in the United team following the arrivals of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin this summer.
Newcastle and Inter both made approaches for the midfielder, but their advances were rebuffed due to Van Gaal's insistence that the England international will still be an important contributor to his side this season, reports The People.
Carrick joined United from Tottenham Hotspur in 2006.
