Manchester United reportedly sent scouts to England's game with Kosovo last week to watch Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi.
The 25-year-old scored from the penalty spot in the eight-goal thriller at St Mary's, taking his tally for his country to seven goals in 22 appearances.
Muriqi joined Fenerbahce for £3.1m in the summer after scoring 25 goals in 52 games for Caykur Rizespor and he has netted twice in Fener's opening three league matches.
The Express reports that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has prioritised the acquisition of a striker in January after failing to adequately replace Romelu Lukaku in the summer, with Muriqi amongst their current top targets.
The report also suggests that the Turkish side could be tempted to cash in for a big profit, with Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli also showing an interest in signing Muriqi.
