Manchester United are reportedly prepared to cut ties with Spanish midfield duo Ander Herrera and Juan Mata to pave the way for Saul Niguez to join from Atletico Madrid.
The Red Devils are one of a number of clubs understood to have shown a strong interest in the 22-year-old, who has a £134m release clause written into his contract.
According to Spanish outlet Don Balon United could be about to make a move, as they are willing to offload Herrera and Mata - both of whom are said to still be in discussions over fresh terms at Old Trafford - to Atletico as part of a swap deal.
Atleti boss Diego Simeone is not so keen on the transfer, however, with the same report suggesting that the 47-year-old is standing firm and will not sell at any price.
Saul, who only agreed a new contract at the Wanda Metropolitano in the summer, has featured in all 12 of Atletico's La Liga and Champions League games so far this term.
