Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has reportedly turned down the chance to join Manchester United on a short-term deal.
The Spain international is currently a free agent after bringing to an end his 12-year stint at the Camp Nou in the summer, although a proposed move to Liverpool broke down earlier this month.
Valdes was yesterday offered the opportunity to train with the Red Devils as he aims to return to full fitness following a long-term injury layoff.
Despite being granted a lifeline by United, Spanish publication El Mundo Deportivo claims that the 32-year-old has declined the offer from manager Louis van Gaal as he does not want to be an understudy to David de Gea.
Valdes has not played a game since March due to a knee injury.
