Manchester United will reportedly be 'turned away' by Aston Villa if they make an attempt to sign Scotland midfielder John McGinn during the January transfer window.
The Red Devils are said to view the 25-year-old as a potential new arrival having been impressed by his performances in the Premier League during the 2019-20 campaign.
Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be a huge admirer of the former Hibernian midfielder's talents, with United's legendary boss allegedly pushing for the 20-time English champions to make a move.
However, according to the Birmingham Mail, Villa will reject any approach from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side at the start of 2020, while only 'epic' offers will be considered in next summer's transfer window.
McGinn signed a four-year deal with Villa upon his arrival in the summer of 2018, and the midfielder scored seven times in 45 appearances for Dean Smith's team during the 2018-19 campaign.
This season, the energetic midfielder, who now has a contract at Villa Park until June 2024, has contributed three goals and two assists in 11 Premier League appearances.
