Paris Saint-Germain attacker Xavi Simons has reportedly informed the French club of his desire to leave this summer.

Simons is currently in his second spell with PSG after returning to the club from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2023.

PSG immediately sent Simons on loan to RB Leipzig, where he established himself as a key player in Marco Rose's side.

The 21-year-old made 43 appearances in all competitions for the German club, scoring 10 goals and providing 15 assists.

After enjoying a successful loan spell, Simons is now attracting significant interest despite having a contract with PSG until the summer of 2027.

Simons wants to leave PSG

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Simons has told PSG that he wishes to leave the club during the summer transfer window.

The Netherlands international plans to head out on another season-long loan move rather than consider a permanent departure.

German giants Bayern Munich are believed to be working hard to sign Simons as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of Vincent Kompany's first season at the helm.

Bayern are facing intense competition from domestic rivals Leipzig, who are keen to bring Simons back to the Red Bull Arena for the 2024-25 campaign.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal and Manchester United pursue a move after previously being linked with the highly-rated talent.

Dutchman to decide next steps after Euros

Simons may have expressed a desire to leave PSG this summer, but he recently indicated that he will not decide his next destination until after Euro 2024.

Speaking after Netherlands' goalless draw with France, Simons told reporters: "I was happy in Paris. I was in Leipzig this year, we'll see after the Euros. I also see that the supporters always wish me the best, and that's good."

The youngster has started both of his country's first two matches, playing 62 minutes against Poland and another 73 minutes in the France stalemate.

Simons thought he had found the all-important breakthrough against France, only to see his effort ruled out after the officials deemed that an offside Denzel Dumfries was impeding Mike Maignan.

The PSG man will hope to keep his place in the side for Tuesday's final group game against Austria at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Netherlands are currently sitting top of Group D and are on the brink of securing a place in the knockout rounds. body check tags ::
