Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has reportedly already drawn up a list of transfer targets, should he be appointed the head coach of Manchester United.
Zidane led Madrid to three straight Champions League titles before leaving the Bernabeu at the end of last season.
Current United boss Jose Mourinho eased the recent pressure with a win at Burnley last weekend, but it is understood that the Portuguese's long-term future at Old Trafford is far from secure.
Zidane is said to be on a list compiled by United in the event that Mourinho leaves before the end of the season.
According to The Mirror, Zidane is desperate to take control of the 20-time English champions and will target moves for Los Blancos pair Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez, Bayern Munich's Thiago and Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani if he arrives in England.
United will return to Premier League action with a trip to in-form Watford next weekend.
