Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface in 2025.
The 23-year-old was a major part of the side that were invincible on their way to the Bundesliga crown in 2023-24 under Xabi Alonso, scoring 14 top-flight goals from 23 appearances.
Rather unsurprisingly, Boniface was subsequently linked with a move away from BayArena, including to Premier League powerhouses Chelsea earlier in the year.
After featuring in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda earlier this month, the Nigeria international is currently nursing a hip injury.
Targeting a return to action in January, Boniface will look to hit the ground running once again after netting six goals in his opening 10 Bundesliga matches of the campaign.
Man United 'add Chelsea-linked Boniface' to striker shortlist?
According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United are making serious efforts to identify potential signings for their attacking ranks.
The report states that Bayer Leverkusen star Boniface is on a long list of striker targets for the Red Devils, who are now looking to move into an era of success under Ruben Amorim.
It is believed that a New Year switch to the Theatre of Dreams for the 23-year-old is unlikely, with the attacker's Leverkusen exit only set to become a serious proposition in the summer.
Speaking more broadly, it is understood that Man United are open to signing a striker during the winter trading point but are also willing to wait until the end of the campaign.
With Boniface's current terms at BayArena expiring in 2028, Bayer Leverkusen are in a good position to drive a hard bargain for the 11-time international.
Man United's striking situation
During the first match of the Amorim era - a 1-1 draw at newly-promoted Ipswich Town on Sunday - Manchester United deployed Marcus Rashford at the focal point of their three-man attack.
The Portuguese's decision to set up his side in that way perhaps points to how the Red Devils could move away from Joshua Zirkzee and even Rasmus Hojlund from now on.
Switching to Old Trafford from Bologna in the summer, Netherlands international Zirkzee has scored just the single Premier League goal across 11 appearances.
There have been reports that Man United and Amorim are willing to let the 23-year-old hop back to Serie A on loan for the remainder of the campaign. body check tags ::
