Joey Barton has said that he is determined to lead Marseille to Ligue 1 title success if Queens Park Rangers allow him to stay with the French club next season.
The 30-year-old English midfielder is scheduled to return to his parent club QPR when his season-long loan spell at OM ends this month.
"For the first time in my life, I'm very happy, really content," Ligue 1.com quotes him as saying. "I love living here, and the relationship with the fans. They've accepted me into their hearts, and that means a lot to me.
"Marseille brought me here knowing I was suspended for 12 games, and I'll never forget that. I get the impression my work here isn't finished yet.
"The French and the fans haven't seen the true Barton, I expect more from myself. I want to do a lot more for the club. When I saw the Parisians celebrating their title, I was jealous. I would like that to happen in Marseille at the Old Port. We can do it next year."
Marseille have secured a second-place finish in Ligue 1 this season.
