Elie Baup was left deflated following Marseille's last-gasp defeat to Lille in Ligue 1 on Tuesday night.
Having gone close to an opener on several occasions throughout the match, Les Phoceens were condemned to a 1-0 defeat at Stade Pierre-Mauroy following a stoppage-time winner from Nolan Roux.
"It's unfair, it's cruel," Baup told the media. "Or whatever you want to call it, but the result is the result.
"Given the match we played, it's hard to accept. We know that Lille are 1-0 specialists, with a tough defence and an unbeatable 'keeper, who shone again tonight.
"We just need to keep playing our game. We brought in some new forwards in the summer and it takes time to get things running smoothly - but we need to work on our finishing."
Marseille are now 10 points behind Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain in fourth, having played a game more.
