Mexico coach Jose Manuel de la Torre has said that he is happy to depart the Confederations Cup on a high after beating Japan 2-1 in Mineirao.
After defeats to Italy and Brazil in their first two matches, his team were battling to avoid finishing bottom of Group A, and two goals from Javier Hernandez saw them end their campaign with a win.
"The team did very well today, we put together some good moves and managed to score," De la Torre told reporters.
"That's what stood out for me, as well as my players' constant fighting spirit. I'm confident this team will continue developing. It's good to leave on a high note."
Mexico are currently third in the standings for the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying section.
