Former Manchester United and Leeds United midfielder Alan Smith has completed his move to League One side MK Dons.
The 31-year-old, who spent six months on loan with the Dons last season, had been a free agent for a short space of time following his release from Newcastle United.
Having signed a two-year deal at stadium:mk, the ex-England international insisted that he wants to play his part in helping the club to get promoted to the Championship.
"When I came here last year I felt part of what the club were trying to achieve," he told the club's official website.
"I made it clear I wanted to stay. There were quite a few other clubs in higher divisions that were interested in me but I think for me, in this stage of my career, I've come to the perfect place.
"What I hope for now is two years where I can commit to MK Dons, give everything that I've got and do everything in my power to help us win promotion to the Championship."
Smith scored two goals in 18 outings for the Dons last season.
