Saint-Etienne coach Christophe Galtier hopes that Montpellier will appoint a Frenchman as their manager in the summer.
Argentine legend Diego Maradona has been linked with the coaching vacancy at the defending French champions that will arise when Rene Girard will leave at the end of the season.
"I would prefer Raymond Domenech to Diego Maradona as I'd prefer a French coach," ESPNSoccernet quotes Galtier as saying.
"The league doesn't need publicity, it needs good coaches. Maradona was a great player, but I'm not sure he's cut out for this job.
"Having said that, it's up to Montpellier and Mr [Louis] Nicollin (president of Montpellier). I think there are plenty of very good French coaches available."
Galtier has been at Saint-Etienne since 2008.
