New Motherwell signing Joe Chalmers has admitted that his move might have fallen through had his new club been relegated from the Scottish Premiership.
Chalmers recently joined Well on a two-year deal after being released by Celtic, but he has revealed that things could have been different had Ian Baraclough's side not beaten Rangers in the playoffs to keep their top-flight status.
"I came in and trained on the Monday and Tuesday," Chalmers told Sky Sports News.
"I then had a chat with the manager and he said they quite liked what they had seen but I still wasn't sure what was going to happen.
"However, I knew there was a slight possibility [the deal may not go through] so I watched both legs and was definitely supporting Motherwell to get the job done."
Chalmers has so far represented Scotland at an Under-16 through to Under-21 level.
