Motherwell manager Stuart McCall paid tribute to the outgoing Jamie Murphy after the winger played his final game for the club in the 1-0 defeat to Celtic.
The 23-year-old is bound for League One outfit Sheffield United after 11 years with the Scottish Premier League side.
"I had a tear in my eye going on the pitch at the end for Jamie," Sky Sports News quotes McCall as saying. "We had a few words and a round of applause for him in the dressing room.
"I think he will do really well down there and he will always be welcome at Motherwell. He is a terrific kid. I have only known him two years but was lucky to work with him."
Murphy won a penalty in the league clash with Celtic that Tom Hateley failed to convert, meaning that Gary Hooper's second-half strike proved decisive.
