Scott McDonald has returned to Motherwell on a one-year contract with the option of a further 12 months.
The striker, 31, spent the second half of last season at the club after being released by Millwall.
McDonald, who previously played for Motherwell between 2004 and 2007, scored five goals in 13 games for the Steelmen last term.
"I'm delighted it's been sorted as there had been a bit of speculation," the Australian told the club's official website. "It's great to have joined and I can't wait until the start of the season.
"I have nothing but good memories from my time at Motherwell and the warmth from this football club and what it gives me, and vice-versa, was a big attraction for me coming back."
McDonald's former clubs include Southampton, Celtic and Middlesbrough.
