Caen missed out on the chance to move five points clear of the Ligue 1 drop zone as they surrendered a lead to draw 1-1 with Nancy this afternoon.
Both sides had chances to break the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes, with Mbaye Niang and Benjamin Nive coming close for the visitors.
Bakaye Traore had one of Nancy's better opportunities of the first period but his goal-bound header was cleared off the line by the Caen defence.
After missing a good chance earlier in the match, Niang did put Caen in front at the second attempt as he slotted the ball past Guy Ndy.
The visitors looked set to pick up a valuable three points but were denied when Benjamin Moukandjo netted an 81st minute equaliser for Nancy.
