Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal has blasted the fitness of midfielder Wesley Sneijder and has stated that he will no longer be selected if his conditioning doesn't improve.
The 28-year-old lost the captain's armband to Robin van Persie and the Oranje boss deemed his physical fitness wasn't up to standard during their 3-0 friendly win over Indonesia.
"He wasn't fully fit and he hasn't been fit for a whole year," Van Gaal told SBS6.
"You could see that on the pitch. As long as he isn't in shape, he can't be in the team and he can't be captain."
Sneijder has won 92 caps for Netherlands and has scored 24 goals since making his debut in 2003.
