Newcastle United assistant manager John Carver has revealed that Tim Krul could be in contention for this weekend's trip to face league leaders Chelsea.
The Dutchman, who has today been linked with a move to Manchester United, has missed the last month due to an ankle injury sustained in training.
However, Carver has now confirmed that the club's first-choice keeper is on course to return to action at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, should he come through a reserve fixture unscathed.
"Tim Krul is taking part in a behind-closed-doors game vs. Celtic," he told reporters. "If he comes through that he will be available for the weekend."
Krul has made 13 appearances for Newcastle in all competitions this season.
