Remy Cabella is hopeful that he can help end Newcastle United's 46-year wait for a trophy this season.
The Magpies last lifted silverware in 1969 when they won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, but new recruit Cabella is confident of stopping the rot.
"I hope we can win a cup this season," the Daily Mail quotes the 24-year-old attacking midfielder as saying. "We play for that - to win a trophy"
"There is a good feeling in the team at the moment and my adaptation is good. I have friends who are French and I am very happy to be here. I am just waiting for the first game now."
Newcastle get their season underway with a home match against Manchester City.
