Newcastle United manager John Carver is determined to make sure that his side do not get "outworked" by Sunderland when they go head to head in the Wear-Tyne derby on Sunday.
The Magpies have lost their last four matches against the Black Cats, but Carver is hopeful that his team can carry their recent performance against Arsenal into the fixture.
"In the last four games, Sunderland have outworked us and that's not a good stat to have," the Daily Star quotes Carver as saying. "I'll be making sure that doesn't happen again and will be using a whip to make sure we don't get outworked.
"We need to do enough to give ourselves a chance to win the game. We need to do the same as we did against Arsenal a fortnight ago in terms of work-rate as they were the highest since I've been back at the club."
Newcastle are currently 12th in the Premier League table, while Sunderland are just one point above the relegation zone.
