Newcastle United striker Papiss Demba Cisse is expected to be fit for Sunday's derby against Sunderland at the Sports Direct Arena.
The 26-year-old withdrew from the Senegal squad this week after picking up a groin injury for the Magpies in last weekend's 2-2 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
"He should be okay," Newcastle coach John Carver told The Journal. "He had a problem with his groin, he hasn't trained yet.
"He didn't train on Wednesday but I think the fortunate thing is that we have the extra day with the game being on Sunday."
Cisse has scored two goals in three games following his January move from Bundesliga side Freiburg.
