Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback has declared that he and his teammates are upbeat over their prospects in the Premier League this season.
The Magpies narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship on the final day of last season as a 2-0 victory over West Ham United secured their top-flight status.
Steve McClaren was hired to replace John Carver in the summer, and Colback has admitted that the mood at St James' Park has changed due to his arrival and the signings of Georginio Wijnaldum, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Chancel Mbemba.
"The mood is optimism. Regardless what has happened in the past, football moves on quickly," he told The Mirror.
"There are new signings which the fans can be excited about. It is a fresh start. There is no point dwelling on last year."
Newcastle play Southampton in their Premier League opener on Sunday.
