Newcastle United defender Mathieu Debuchy has withdrawn from the France squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Spain.
The 27-year-old picked up a thigh injury during his club side's 2-1 defeat to Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium yesterday afternoon.
"Mathieu has a thigh muscle injury. He is out of the two matches, we have called in Rod Fanni, who will join up with us this evening," France coach Didier Deschamps told reporters this afternoon.
Debuchy has made 13 appearances at senior international level.
