Remi Garde has indicated that he cannot speak openly about his future, out of respect for Newcastle United.
The Frenchman has been linked with the manager's job at St James' Park since Alan Pardew left for Crystal Palace at the end of December.
The former Lyon boss is said to have held brief talks with the Magpies in January and is thought to remain keen on the idea of being head coach.
When asked for an update regarding the situation, Garde told the The Chronicle: "I have a duty of confidentiality in this matter to Newcastle then I'll be very honest and very integrated with respect to the leaders of Newcastle, I cannot say more."
Garde is currently in the middle of a one-year sabbatical from coaching.
