Former Newcastle United midfielder Dietmar Hamann believes that Alan Pardew's side can finish in the top six of the Premier League this season.
The Magpies have won back-to-back matches against Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur to climb up to ninth in the table
"If you look at the table now, you've got to say they've done well," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying. "They had a decent start to the season but they lost to Sunderland and you think 'it's back to the Newcastle of old' win one then losing two.
"But the last two games could change their season, they're two points off Manchester City now and they've got a golden opportunity to cement their place in the top six or eight against Norwich.
"It's a dangerous team because once these French players hit form and start to roll, they'll be hard to stop and [Loic] Remy looks like he's scoring goals for fun. They've got a good goalkeeper, they're solid in defence and they look like they've got some players who can make the difference going forward."
Hamann played for Newcastle between 1998 and 1999.
