Daryl Janmaat has claimed that Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is up there with Louis van Gaal and Ronald Koeman among the best coaches he has played under.
The Magpies beat West Bromwich Albion 2-0 this afternoon for what was their fifth successive win in all competitions under the 53-year-old
Janmaat has worked with the current Southampton and Manchester United managers at Feyenoord and the Netherlands respectively.
The Dutchman says that Pardew - who was said to be close to losing his job earlier in the season - is just as competent.
"I worked with two very good managers in Van Gaal and Koeman, and I'm working with another very good one now. I see the similarities between them," he told The Sun.
"Top managers have belief in themselves, they have strength, they stick to their philosophies."
Newcastle, who occupied a relegation spot in mid-October, now sit eighth in the Premier League table.
