Newcastle United will secure the services of Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga in the winter transfer window, according to reports.
Manager Alan Pardew is understood to be eager to make the £7m move as soon as possible, despite concerns that the club will lose the Mali international to the African Cup of Nations soon after he arrives, according to The People.
The club will also lose Senegal's Demba Ba and reported Chelsea target Cheick Tiote to the continental competition. The final is scheduled for February 12.
Maiga has scored 19 goals in 41 appearances for the French outfit since his arrival in 2010.
