Steve McClaren will reportedly become the Newcastle United manager in the summer if he fails to win promotion to the Premier League with Derby County.
The former England boss has been heavily linked with the post at St James' Park, which is expected to be vacant once John Carver leaves his interim role in the summer.
While McClaren has publicly dismissed the rumours, it has been reported by the Daily Star that the 53-year-old wants to take up the role in the North-East club, but that's only if he fails to push the Rams into the top flight from the Championship.
Derby are currently fifth in the league table, four points within the playoffs with two games left to play.
