Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren has said that never found his players turning up in tuxedos funny.
New signings Chancel Mbemba and Florian Thauvin both turned up to games in dinner jackets after McClaren had asked his players to wear suits when they attend matches.
Magpies legend Alan Shearer blasted the move from the players on Match of the Day, but McClaren refused to criticise his players.
The 54-year-old told reporters: "I didn't think it was funny in the first place.
"There were no comments when Chancel Mbemba came with the first one, I respect pundits and commentators, especially ones that have played at the highest level."
Newcastle are without a win in six games so far and 19th in the Premier League.
