Newcastle United have reportedly made contact with Thomas Tuchel regarding their imminent managerial vacancy.
The 41-year-old has been out of work since he resigned as the head coach of Bundesliga outfit Mainz during the summer.
However, while Tuchel is keen on the St James' Park post, he has no plans to return to work until the end of the season, according to the Daily Mail.
As a result, if Newcastle were to firm up their interest in Tuchel, they may have to appoint interim boss John Carver for the remainder of the campaign, when Tuchel would make himself available.
The Magpies are on the lookout for a new manager after they granted Alan Pardew permission to discuss terms with Crystal Palace.
