Newcastle United will reportedly resort to legal action against Wigan Athletic following Callum McManaman's horror tackle on Massadio Haidara.
The Latics youngster escaped discipline during the 2-1 victory for Wigan on Sunday, despite allegedly causing knee ligament damage to the Newcastle left-back.
Wigan manager Roberto Martinez came to the defence of the winger, while chairman Dave Whelan has insisted that McManaman had "got the ball".
The Magpies are believed to be prepared to launch a legal case against the North-West outfit in a bid to gain compensation, according to the Irish Independent.
Meanwhile, the Football Association could make a decision today regarding possible retrospective action against McManaman.
