Newcastle are reportedly ready to offer Danny Guthrie a new contract after a string of strong performances.
The midfielder has impressed against Stoke, Blackburn and Everton recently, with his latest performance earning him the man of the match award.
The 24-year-old is expected to be given an extended run in the team when Cheik Tiote leaves for African Nations Cup duty with Ivory Coast in January.
A new deal for Guthrie is believed to be imminent, although the player is relaxed about his future at the club.
"I'm fine at the minute," he told The Chronicle.
"I'm sure the club will sit down and talk about it at some stage, but right now I'm just concentrating on playing."
Guthrie joined Newcastle from Liverpool in 2008.
