Newcastle United have reportedly scheduled discussions with David Moyes over the next few days in a bid to preserve the club's Premier League status.
The Magpies are expected to sack current head coach Steve McClaren, who has overseen just six victories from 28 outings in the top flight this term.
That has left Newcastle in the bottom three and one point from safety with 10 matches left to play.
The Telegraph claims that the currently out-of-work Moyes has been identified by owner Mike Ashley and certain board members as the best man to guide the team to safety.
Following yesterday's 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Bournemouth, McClaren insisted that he was not going to resign from his position.
