Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has acknowledged the importance of his side's victory against Leicester City and praised his players for sticking to their task.
The Magpies picked up their first win of the season courtesy of a 1-0 triumph at St James' Park earlier today.
Gabriel Obertan's strike 20 minutes from time proved the difference as 18th-place Newcastle racked up just their seventh Premier League point of the campaign.
"It was a really important win for the football club," Pardew told Sky Sports News. "We have worked really hard without getting our rewards, but today we did.
"They ran us really close at the end, but I am proud of my players at the end. We stuck at it, kept creating chances, and I am especially glad it was Gabriel Obertan who scored, as he is a player that needs confidence."
Next up for Newcastle is a trip to face Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane next Sunday.
