Alan Pardew: Wolves deserved to draw

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew believes that his side should have beaten Wolves having taken a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has admitted that Wolverhampton Wanderers deserved a point in Saturday afternoon's game, but also said that the 2-2 result felt like a loss.

Newcastle were 2-0 up in less than 20 minutes, but a second-half comeback gave Wolves caretaker manager Terry Connor a good start to his time at the helm of the club.

Pardew, however, believes that his side should have gone on to win the game after taking a two-goal lead.

"It obviously feels like a defeat really," he told Sky Sports News.

"When you're 2-0 up and you're Newcastle United at home, at half time, you've got to win, and unfortunately we haven't.

"The opposition had a good part to play in that. They had a great attitude, they wouldn't lie down. They got a bit of a fortunate goal and they ended up getting a point, which they probably deserved."

The result distances Wolves from the relegation zone by an extra point, while Newcastle move level on points with fifth-place Arsenal.
