Mike Ashley has reportedly identified Harry Redknapp as a potential candidate to take over at Newcastle United following his departure from Queens Park Rangers this week.
After Alan Pardew joined Crystal Palace, the Magpies announced that John Carver will remain in charge of the first team until the end of the season.
According to the Daily Star, Ashley will try to bring Redknapp to St James' Park once the 67-year-old has recovered from the knee surgery that he left Loftus Road to undergo.
Redknapp was linked with a move to Newcastle in 2008, when Ashley reportedly offered the then-Portsmouth manager a £20m deal.
