Steve McClaren has reportedly not been approached by Newcastle United, despite his exit from Derby County.
The 54-year-old parted company with the Rams on Monday after failing to guide them into the Championship playoffs.
McClaren has been linked with the Newcastle job for several months, with the club expected to dispense of current head coach John Carver after narrowly securing their Premier League status over the weekend.
While the former England boss could now be snapped up without compensation being paid out, Newcastle will stick to their own schedule and process when it comes to appointing a new boss, according to The Chronicle.
The report adds that the club have not yet approached McClaren over the job.
McClaren reportedly turned down the chance to move to St James' Park earlier this month.
