Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly rejected an £8m bid from Newcastle United for defender Dan Burn.
The 6ft 7in centre-back has emerged as one of several defensive targets for Eddie Howe's side, who are desperate to bolster their squad before next Monday's deadline.
According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle's initial offer of £8m for the 29-year-old has been rebuffed by Brighton and it remains to be seen whether the Magpies will come back in with an improved bid.
Graham Potter is understood to have no interest in letting the Blyth-born defender leave the club this month and views him as a valuable member of his squad.
Burn, who has less than 18 months remaining on his contract at the Amex Stadium, began his youth career with Newcastle before being released by the club at the age of 11.
The former Fulham and Wigan Athletic man has since made a total of 85 appearances for Brighton, including 12 Premier League starts this season. body check tags ::
