Yohan Cabaye has urged the Newcastle United hierarchy to do all they can to keep hold of Demba Ba.
The Senegal striker struck 16 Premier League goals last season after joining the Magpies on a free transfer from West Ham United last summer.
Cabaye believes that Ba was instrumental in Newcastle's fifth-placed finish last season and hopes that the club can beat off interest from potential suitors.
"Demba scored many goals for us so it's going to be important to keep him — and keep all the big players," said Cabaye. "I hope the board are going to do the right things to keep them.
"I don't know if we can go higher than last season, but we have to keep doing the right thing."
Cabaye arrived at St James' Park from Lille last summer.
