Espanyol are said to be interested in signing Newcastle United defender Danny Simpson.
The 25-year-old right-back, whose current contract expires in June 2013, has yet to commit his long-term future to the Magpies because the club are unwilling to agree to his wage demands.
If he has not put pen to paper on a new deal by January then he would be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club outside of England.
According to The Sun, Espanyol are closely monitoring Simpson's situation and are preparing to make an offer for the player in the winter.
Simpson, who played 90 minutes in Saturday's 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur, has made 91 appearances in all competitions for Newcastle since his £750,000 move from Manchester United in January 2010.
