Inter Milan defender Davide Santon has held discussions with Newcastle United over a move to St James' Park, according to the player's agent.
Magpies' manager Alan Pardew has reportedly identified the 20-year-old as the player to replace Jose Enrique after the Spaniard joined Liverpool two weeks ago.
The Italian international has been tracked by AS Roma all summer but agent Claudio Vigorelli has confirmed that his client wants a move to the Premier League club.
"At this time, there is no possibility that Santon can join Roma because right now the aim is Newcastle," he told Corriere dello Sport.
Santon spent six months on loan at Serie A club Cesena last season.
