Newcastle United are reportedly close to agreeing a £7m deal to sign Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga.
Maiga was close to moving to St James' Park during the summer, but a planned deal fell through on deadline day.
However, the Magpies vowed to keep fighting for the Mali international and are now expected to line up a deal to be completed in the January transfer window, according to The Sun.
Maiga, who scored 15 goals for Ligue 1 club Sochaux last season, has been offered a four-and-a-half year deal by Newcastle.
