Sassuolo defender Gian Marco Ferrari has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Newcastle United.
Ferrari has been contracted to Sassuolo for the past two years but last season, the 26-year-old made 30 league appearances on loan at Sampdoria.
The Serie A club have the option of turning the deal into a permanent move for £11.2m but as it stands, I Blucerchiati are yet to indicate that they are willing to pay that fee.
According to Calciomercato, that has resulted in interest from the Premier League, with Newcastle said to be considering an approach for the Italian.
Chancel Mbemba is expected to leave St James' Park before the start of next season, leaving open the possibility of Ferrari being brought in as a replacement.
Fulham, Sevilla and Monaco are also allegedly interested in the player.
