Newcastle United have reportedly made an £11m offer for Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan.
The Ligue 1 side have rejected that offer for Rolan, but coach Willy Sagnol is already believed to be looking for a replacement, according to The People.
It is thought that both sides are not far apart in terms of a valuation, with a move on course to go through before the transfer window closes.
United head coach Steve McClaren is still said to be looking for new recruits before the end of August, with Rolan believed to be high on the list of targets.
Newcastle open their Premier League campaign at home to Southampton on Sunday.
