Newcastle United have reportedly decided against making a formal approach for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.
Recent reports in France suggested that the Magpies were ready to table a €25m (£18.3m) bid for the 24-year-old, who they have long admired.
However, according to PA, the Magpies have given up hope of signing the French international in this month's transfer window after being told that he is not for sale.
Lacazette was Ligue 1's top scorer with 27 goals in 33 appearances last term, but he has not been quite as clinical in front of goal this term with six in 15.
