Newcastle United are reportedly ready to use Steven Taylor in a cash-plus-player bid for Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy.
The Magpies have been actively searching for a forward to take the burden off leading marksman Papiss Cisse next season, but were frustrated in their efforts to sign Arouna Kone and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
With Remy aiming to find a new club in the close season boss Alan Pardew is considering a £6m bid for the French striker that includes central defender Taylor, according to The Mirror.
Despite spending his entire professional career on Tyneside Taylor has reportedly been told that he is not a guaranteed starter for next season by Pardew, while also being informed of his plans for a swap deal.
Hoops boss Harry Redknapp is keen to use Taylor in the gap left by outgoing defender Christopher Samba, but the former England Under-21 international is thought to remain unconvinced over the deal at this stage.
