According to FootMercato, Newcastle are now preparing to make Roma an offer to sign Veretout, who is playing his third season with the Serie A club.

Veretout does have experience in England's top flight after playing for Aston Villa during the 2015-16 campaign, where he made 25 appearances in the Premier League.

The midfielder has been a regular under Jose Mourinho this season, having featured 18 times in Serie A, only missing one match due to suspension.
