Alan Pardew eyes new signings

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is aiming for three new signings before the current transfer window ends.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has revealed that he is looking to bring in up to three new signings before the end of the current transfer window.

The Magpies have been linked with a number of players, including French duo Mathieu Debuchy and Jeremy Toulalan, this summer as they look to improve on last season's fifth-place finish.

Pardew, who is yet to make any waves in the window, believes that his squad is good enough as it is, but admits that he is still looking to bring in a few new faces.

"I don't know if not signing anyone is bad news. I would say that bad news is losing a player, especially one of our top players and I do believe we are pretty strong in terms of that not happening," Pardew told the Sunday Sun.

"We are in a situation wherein we can hold off any offers that come our way, but if we get players in then great. I do need a couple of players, maybe three.

"However, I am very comfortable about going into our first game without any. If, to get a deal done, we need to show patience then that's what we will do. It's better to be patient with the ones that you want, rather than going down the list a little bit."

Newcastle begin their Premier League campaign at home to Tottenham Hotspur on August 18, before facing Chelsea a week later.
